Management styles


Task 7 – Speaking.-  With a partner, act out the roles below, based on the dialogue from Task 6. Then switch roles.

Use language such as:
  • Do you have a complaint about one of the managers?
  • Can you give me an example?
  •  I know everyone really likes …


A: Hello, Fernanda, please take a sit.
B: Hi, what is this meeting for?
A:  We need to talk about the managers in order to improve the company.
B: Ok.
A: Do you have a complaint about one of the managers?
B: Yes, I don’t like Yamiliny, she es very authorotory.
A: Can you give an example?
B: Yes, ones she almost fires me because i was late five minutes.
A: Oh, I see. And do you have a favorite manager?
B: Yes, Danniny, she’s very democratic.
A: Ok, thank you for your feedback.



Task 8 – Writing.- You are a business owner. Write a memo to one of your manageers suggesting that he or she adopt a new management style (100-120 words). Talk about:

  • What the employee’s complaints about the manager’s styles are.
  • Why it is important to change the management style.
  • Wich management style you recommend.
  • Why you recommend this style.



Hello, I hope you are having a good day. I’m writing this memo to suggest to change your management style. The employees complaints were about your authorotorian way to lead them. I expect that you take the recomendattions of all your employees. This doesn’t mean that you are a bad manger, they just think that you are kind of rude. Thank you for your attention.
